Auburn High School is committed to offering students engaging, meaningful, and enriching experiences beyond the classroom. Our camps and excursions are carefully designed to build resilience, teamwork, and life skills while complementing the academic and personal development of each student. Below is an overview of our major camps and excursions:

Year 7 Camp – Camp Rumbug

The Year 7 Camp at Camp Rumbug provides an exciting opportunity for our newest students to bond with their peers and teachers in a supportive and adventurous environment. Set amidst the stunning natural surroundings of South Gippsland, this camp focuses on building friendships, fostering teamwork, and encouraging personal growth. Activities include:

  • High ropes courses
  • Canoeing and water-based challenges
  • Bushwalking 
  • Group problem-solving activities
  • Nighttime team games and campfire experiences

This camp sets the tone for students’ transition into high school, creating a strong sense of belonging within the Auburn High School community.

Year 9 Camp – Clifford Park Activity Centre

Year 9 students attend camp at the Clifford Park Activity Centre in Wonga Park. This camp is tailored to challenge students physically and mentally while reinforcing teamwork and leadership skills. Set in a beautiful outdoor setting, students engage in:

  • Rock climbing and abseiling
  • Mountain biking and outdoor navigation
  • Low and high ropes courses
  • Team-building initiatives
  • Environmental education workshops

The Year 9 camp encourages students to push their limits, build resilience, and strengthen their sense of independence.

Year 9 City Project – The Great Melbourne Race

The Year 9 City Project, including the Great Melbourne Race, is an urban adventure like no other. This unique experience allows students to explore Melbourne’s rich history, culture, and landmarks while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In teams, students take part in:

  • Navigating the city using public transport
  • Solving clues and completing challenges at key Melbourne landmarks
  • Learning about Melbourne’s history, art, and cultural diversity

This activity fosters collaboration, time management, and adaptability while showcasing Melbourne as a vibrant classroom.

Year 12 VCE Study Camp – CYC The Island

To support our senior students in their final year of schooling, the Year 12 VCE Study Camp at CYC The Island on Phillip Island is an invaluable experience. The camp’s primary focus is academic preparation, offering:

  • Subject-specific workshops led by experienced teachers
  • Study skills and exam preparation sessions
  • Motivational seminars and stress management techniques
  • Opportunities for collaborative study and peer support
  • Relaxation activities to promote well-being, such as beach walks and recreational sports

This camp is designed to inspire and empower students as they approach their final examinations and future pathways.
