Performing Arts

Participating in Drama builds confidence, enhances presentation skills, and fosters the ability to communicate through diverse mediums. Drama sparks creativity and encourages critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, which can be applied in all areas of learning, supporting students in reaching their full potential.

All students in Year 7 and 8 complete a semester of Drama as part of the core curriculum. During these classes, students are encouraged to develop their self-awareness and teamwork skills through role-play. They learn to reflect on and assess both their own work and that of their peers, developing a range of skills, including vocal technique, physical expression, stagecraft, playmaking, and performance skills.

Year 9 and 10 Drama is offered as an elective, allowing students to deepen their knowledge and passion for the subject. Students explore acting techniques and experiment with a range of processes used for character development. They research different theatrical styles from a variety of cultural contexts and learn how dramatic and stagecraft elements enhance a performance. These courses provide a solid foundation for those who wish to pursue Drama further.

Additionally, students have the option to participate in instrumental or vocal lessons for an additional cost.

School Production

At Auburn High, our School Production is an exciting annual event, that brings together students and teachers from across the school. This collaborative effort results in an outstanding musical performance, giving students the chance to explore and enhance their talents in acting, singing, and dancing.

Production is a great opportunity for students to take part in a unique collaborative learning experience. Each year, there is a strong emphasis on improving students’ abilities and fostering a deeper sense of school community. Apart from being great fun, the production helps students build invaluable skills such as confidence, communication, leadership qualities, collaboration, and responsibility, as well as more creative-based talents.

Participation in the School Production is voluntary and open to all students at the school.
