Homestay Program

At Auburn, we take great care in matching international students with compatible homestay families. We provide our students with high quality homestay accommodation. We also screen all homestay providers to ensure our international students live in a safe, comfortable and caring home environment.

We monitor homestays closely and our international student coordinator visits regularly to oversee students’ life outside of school. Homestay families assist students with their English proficiency; cultural adjustment; social integration; and support students to make the most of their international education experience.

One of our staff, Linda Sheng, has this to say about our program:

“Auburn High School truly puts people first, cares for every student and enables them to study and live in a relaxed and happy environment.”

In Victoria, all government school homestay families provide:

  • a safe, secure, welcoming place to live
  • a household compliant with the Child Safe Standards
  • a separate single room for the student’s personal use
  • three meals a day, seven days a week, including snacks
  • facilities including a bed, wardrobe, towels and linen
  • utilities including gas, electricity, heating and water, costs, and internet
  • cleaning services of common living areas
  • the use of living areas within the residence
  • study facilities such as a desk, study light and bookcase
  • attendance at parent/teacher evenings on behalf of each student’s parents.
