All students and staff are assigned to a House, named after prominent and admirable Australians. Hollows, after the late ophthalmologist, Dr Fred Hollows AC, Freeman, after the highly successful indigenous athlete Cathy Freeman, Murdoch, in honour of the late philanthropist Dame Elizabeth Murdoch and Winton, for author Tim Winton, representing literature and the arts.
House spirit is a cornerstone of Auburn High School culture, with students proudly showcasing their skills and competitive drive during our annual House Swimming, Athletics, and Cross Country events. Representing the four House Teams—Winton, Hollows, Freeman, and Murdoch—these events foster a strong sense of community, belonging, and school pride.
Students have regular opportunities to represent their House and build their House pride at events such as House Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics carnivals, House Debating, Art and Music & Performance competition. By participating in these programs and demonstrating our DARE values, they can earn points for their House to win the AHS House Cup Championship.
